Last week for senior core we talked about the course, its expectations, and all the boring stuff that professors mention on the first day of class. Professor Cutting also talked about things that seemed off-topic but turned out to be very relevant to the course which caught my attention. We only had a conversation about this topic for about 5 minutes. I ended up googling this topic myself and dug into it for a good half an hour. I learned more about Elon Musk and his brain chips. About a week ago Musk and his team implanted a chip into a person’s brain for the first time. The idea of this chip is to attempt to control a device (any digital device like a computer or wheelchair) using just the brain (human thoughts). Before this topic was brought up in class, Professor Cutting reminded us that everything around us is digital but humans and animals are not. As technology and the medical field advance, I believe that someday soon humans will all have a digital component to them. I’m not sure if this is a good or bad thing but it’s fascinating to think about.
